19 days until I leave for Paraguay!

Thank you to all of you for your wonderful prayers and support for me as I prepare to leave! I will be flying out of Pittsburgh on July 15th and arriving in Asuncion, Paraguay on July 16th. My mom and I have been busily packing and working through all of the legal documents. Also I have been talking with two teachers at the school and finding out more and more about my classroom and what I will be teaching. Instead of 5th grade I will have 4th now as my homeroom, though I will be teaching both 4th and 5th grade math, science, and grammar. I will have 4th though for bible and my meeting times, etc. I am truly excited by what I will be teaching and my co-teacher. Her name is Jenn and she will be the 5th grade teacher. She is terrific and will be a very helpful support as this will be her 4th year as a full time teacher at ACA.

Prayer Requests:

1. Legal documents: the visas and legalization of documents is confusing, frustrating, and difficult. I am currently waiting to recieve a tourist visa from the Consulate of Paraguay in NYC and also get several documents legalized so that I can take them with me to help with officially working in Paraguay. The biggest concern though is in regards to a clearance that I have been waiting to recieve from the FBI. Unfortunately this could now take several more weeks with the backup in clearances. Please prayer that I will recieve this prior to leaving so that I can get it legalized and take it with me.

2. My Classes: Please pray for my future students! I will have about 12 students in 4th grade and 6 students in 5th grade. They probably will have English as their second or third language, and can average 3-4 nationalities per class. Please pray that I will have wisdom for how to best reach and teach my students.

3. My school: ACA has been going through several changes as they enter into this new school year. Please prayer for the administration, school board, and wisdom for me.

  1. That is exciting!! We are both going to have 2-grade and bilingual type teaching experiences. Can't wait to hear about your classroom!
